Alabama’s Special Camp for Children & Adults

The Demo Farm is officially OPEN!

T

oday was the first official day that the Demo Farm was open. Campers were enthusiastic as they loaded onto the people mover to head out the the Farm. When we arrived the donkeys were anxiously awaiting for us and welcomed us with a nice big “Hee, Haw”. The campers loved it.

As soon they got inside the barn Melanie Bradsher, Demo Farm Director, went over the safety rules while in the barn. The campers then moved around the barn starting with the donkey’s each giving them a handful of sweet feed and petting them on their nose. The donkeys were in heaven. Then they moved on to Suasage and Bacon our two pigs, but they were a little skiddish as all the kids came running up to the pin. Then came the fun part, getting to pet the baby chickens and bunnies. Some of the campers were a little scared of the animals but eventually petted them atleast once.

After the group was done at the Demo Farm they headed to our garden to build us a scarecrow! The Campers did a great job as they built us a wonderful scarecrow to help with keeping things out of our garden. The campers had a great time.
