At the end of Week 7 each summer, a summer staff member who has shown endless hard work and resiliency is awarded the Judy Williams Scholarship. Last week, the 2016 recipient was announced, and Christian Thomason of Birmingham received this year’s Judy Williams Scholarship.
Christian is a freshman and a student athlete at Auburn University at Montgomery studying Exercise Science and is a member of the Warhawks soccer team. He has worked at Camp ASCCA for four summers as a counselor-in-training and a counselor. When asked how it felt to hear his name called by Camp Director, Matt Rickman, Thomason said, “I was truly in shock when I received it. Camp is one of the only places where I actually feel at home.”
The recipient each year is voted on by their peers and receives a scholarship of $500.
