2nd Annual ASCCAPALOOZA!

Last night was the 2nd Annual ASCCAPALOOZA! Yesterday was a very long day for everyone, and I know the campers loved every last second of it. That is what camp is all about! We are about bringing joy to our campers every day and every year. There aren’t many camps like Camp ASCCA in the first place, but it is a huge deal for these campers to see a concert with people who are like them. We give them the opportunity to do and see things they never thought possible because ASCCA has No Limits.

Let’s get back to ASCCAPalooza and how incredible it was to see all of those bands and all those smiling faces. We started off with the lovely Hollye Horton. This is her second year at ASCCApalooza, and I am sure she loves it here. The atmosphere and love that you get from just being surrounded by these campers is surreal. She performed so many songs that I can’t even name all of them, yet there was an entire dance party in the middle of the gym floor with all of the campers and counselors in it. She performed covers of Taylor Swift, “Jolene” by Dolly Parton, and “All About That Bass” by Meghan Trainor. She even shared an original song of hers with us and we were honored. We loved every second of it!

The next band that performed was made up of a few members of Tarred & Feathered. One of their members, Chris, used to work at Camp ASCCA as summer staff with our now full-time staff people. His last year at Camp was 2004, so this was an incredible moment for him to come back to play for us like he did before. Quillie, Nurse Abbey’s husband, also played alongside them because they were old friends and what better way to show unity than friends bringing joy to a bunch of people also becoming camp friends. They performed songs such as “Wagon Wheel” by Darius Rucker, “Beautiful Girls” by B.O.B, some Bruno Mars and even Little Big Town. It was truly an amazing performance.
