Camp ASCCA was joined by maintenance staff members from Southern Union State Community College, representing both the Wadley and Opelika campuses. President Todd Shackett recently challenged his employees to become more involved in their communities and find ways to give back, and we’re so thankful that challenge led them to Camp ASCCA!

When Jody Hodnett, owner of Frogeye Farms, heard about this new initiative, he immediately knew where to go. Jody has had a long-time relationship with Camp ASCCA — every summer, he lends animals from his farm so campers can experience the joy of the demonstration farm.
Knowing how much Camp ASCCA means to him, Jody reached out to see if there were any projects that needed extra hands. And of course, there’s always something happening around camp! We were thrilled to host a “work party,” and on Wednesday morning, the team got right to work. They installed a new fan at the demo farm, built an office in the dining hall, and buffed floors in the basement of Lions Lodge.

We’re so grateful for community members who go above and beyond to give back. Their willingness to serve makes a lasting difference. Camp ASCCA is able to continue providing life-changing experiences for individuals with disabilities because of people like Jody and the amazing team from Southern Union.

Thank you, Southern Union, for spending your time with us and helping keep Camp ASCCA the special place it is!
