At Camp ASCCA, our counselors are the heart and soul of the experience. They are responsible for guiding campers, spreading joy, and creating unforgettable memories. This summer, we sat down with Logan, a first-year counselor who’s already making a huge impact. From his initial hesitation to his newfound love for Camp life, Logan’s story is one of growth, patience, and a whole lot of fun.
Logan’s path to Camp ASCCA began with a little serendipity. “It was originally from my sister’s college roommate,” he shared. “I heard more about it from other past staff that appeared in my life randomly. So that was awesome!”
At first, Logan wasn’t sure if being a camp counselor was for him. But after hearing enthusiastic endorsements from friends and former staff, he decided to take the leap. Now, five weeks into the summer, he’s so glad he did.

When asked about his favorite part of the job, Logan didn’t hesitate: “Genuinely, it’s hanging out with the campers. They’re so much fun.” He even admitted a soft spot for the campers with rambunctious energy that keeps him on his toes. As a first-year counselor, Logan has already learned invaluable lessons. “Patience is a good one,” he reflected. “Some people are slow to respond or some people have different ways of expressing things. Being patient with anybody and everybody is great.”

Though he’s new, Logan already has wisdom to share for future staff: “Don’t be afraid to ask for help.” He expressed how vital teamwork is at Camp. “Each day is a new day. Everything’s going to be different.” Logan has experienced first hand that one person alone can’t make Camp ASCCA magical.
From hesitant applicant to beloved counselor, Logan’s journey embodies the power of Camp ASCCA. Camp is a place where challenges turn into growth, and strangers become family. We’re so glad he’s here, and we can’t wait to see the impact he’ll continue to make! To all future counselors reading this: If Logan’s story resonates with you, maybe Camp ASCCA is your next adventure too.
