Last night, campers and counselors joined together for the final event of Session 6, the Pirates and Mermaids Dance. Everyone arrived at the dining hall dressed in their pirates best and some even made a splash as beautiful mermaids. After the long-awaited chicken finger dinner, campers and staff were sent to the back porch of the dining hall as the program staff moved tables and chairs to prepare the dance floor. Campers use the dance as their final celebration, and this week many of our summer staff will also be leaving us.
DJ Cody Graham came ready with a perfect playlist to wrap up the week. As he mixed it up, everyone danced to popular songs by a few camper favorites like Taylor Swift, Michael Jackson, and much more. Every few songs, there was also time for a slow dance as campers found their camp crushes and danced the night away. The smiles were unforgettable and the dance moves were unstoppable.
After the final song, everyone joined together to look back at this week’s memories in the Session 6 slideshow designed by this summer’s PR interns. After the slideshow ended, campers and staff joined together in one last singing of the “Goodnight Song.” Happy tears flowed for many as campers and staff were not ready to separate and leave such a wonderful place. However, the end of the week may come, but it’s no goodbye. It’s just a simple “See ya next year!”
