Alabama District of Pilot International TBI Camp 2018

Last weekend, the Alabama District Pilot International hosted their fifth annual TBI Camp right here at Camp ASCCA, and this year’s theme was “Fiesta.” According to the Alabama District website, “PILOT International is a community based volunteer service organization, founded in 1921 in Macon, GA, on the guiding principles of “Friendship and Service” through charitable projects, community service, education and research.” This special event is held every year in hopes of offering exciting and new opportunities for individuals who are living with a traumatic brain injury. Campers, their families, and volunteers spent time doing a variety of activities across the ASCCA campus.

Everyone had the opportunity to ride the zip-line, take a boat ride across Lake Martin, participate in art activities, and dance with their best friends at the weekend’s dance fiesta. The Pilots even brought a variety of prizes to share with the campers during a few rounds of Bingo. One individual in attendance shared her experience in the Camp ASCCA Facebook page saying, “It was an amazing week. Cody and the rest of the Camp ASCCA staff made our stay extraordinary.”

Pilot members from across the state work with us throughout the year and offer support to our campers through camperships and program advancements. We are very thankful for their contributions each year and the passion they show for individuals with disabilities!
