Alabama Head Injury Foundation Weekend 2016

This weekend Camp ASCCA welcomed the Alabama Head Injury Foundation (AHIF), or should I say the Alabama Head Injury FAMILY.

AHIF was founded in 1983 to increase awareness of Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) and to inspire the growth of supportive services/programs. AHIF recognizes the impact that a TBI has on the lives of the person with a TBI and their loved ones. AHIF helps to provide information that help families understand the results of a TBI injury, helps them to utilize available resources and provides them with services/programs that meet the needs of individuals with TBI as well as spinal cord injury (SCI). For more information about how AHIF impacts the lives of those affected by a Traumatic Brain Injury or Spinal Cord Injury click here.

This weekend AHIF came to adventure and enjoy the peace and sometimes quiet (it’s hard to be quiet when you are having fun) of Camp ASCCA! We always love having AHIF here. AHIF has been coming to Camp ASCCA for many years and we are honored that they choose to have this special event here at camp with us! Alabama District Pilot International sponsors this weekend for AHIF and are very passionate about their work with them. Like I said, the “F” at the end may technically stand for Foundation, but in the hearts of everyone involved it really stands for Family!

While at Camp ASCCA this weekend AHIF, Pilots and Anchors (Pilot International program for young people aspiring to leaders in their community and dedicated to helping those in need) all enjoyed the many adventures that camp offers.

Friday night we kicked off the weekend festivities with BINGO and Karaoke. Then Saturday program rotations started. They flew through the air, going faster than they ever thought they could on the Zipline, they hit a few golf balls at putt-putt, challenged each other to a friendly game of horse shoes, took a relaxing boat ride on Lake Martin, caught a lot of fish while fishing at the pond and the day came to a close as we Danced the Night Away at the Red White and Blue dance…Now that’s what I call a Great Weekend!!

We had a blast adventuring with AHIF and look forward to adventuring with you again, the next time you are here.

As Always it was a GREAT weekend at Camp ASCCA!
