For our friends with disabilities, demo farm and outdoor therapy here at Camp can offer unique opportunities to experience the joy of nature, learn new skills, and experience things they might not get to on a day-to-day basis.
Camp ASCCA’s demonstration farm, serves as an educational, hands on, and experimental activity. Camp’s demo farm rotation gives our campers an opportunity to interact with a variety of animals, including cows, pigs, sheep, goats, bunnies, and chicks. the farm is an immersive and hands on learning environment where campers can feed and pet the animals while learning about them at the same time. Nature based activities such as demo farm is proven to improve physical, mental, and emotional health.
One of the most important aspects of demo farm is the sheer enjoyment it brings. This rotation is some of our campers’ favorite activity here at Camp. Whether it is the satisfaction of caring for the animals or the simple pleasure of being at the farm, this experience can be incredibly fulfilling. For our campers this activity offers a chance to engage in fun, meaningful, and rewarding experiences that might otherwise be inaccessible. The heart and soul of our demo farm is Miss Avery Royal. Avery runs the farm with unwavering dedication and a genuine love for both the animals and the campers. She ensures every camper feels included and has the opportunity to interact with all of the animals. She goes out of her way to share fun facts about the animals, making each visit entertaining and educational. Avery’s warmth and expertise makes her simply invaluable.
At Camp’s demo farm, the joy of holding a fluffy bunny, feeding a curious goat, or smiling with a chick sitting on your head can provide campers with unforgettable memories and a sense of connection to the natural world.
