Yesterday we had a visit from the American Camp Association. ACA is dedicated to enriching the lives of children, youth and adults through the camp experience. ACA is made up of camp professionals who aim to share their knowledge and experience to ensure the quality of the camp. They have been doing this for over 100 years.
When members from ACA arrived today, they began with a tour around camp, they visited archery, demo farm, waterslide, and the zipline just to name a few. They visit Camp ASCCA every five years to make sure that everything is up to date and re-accredit us.
There is a total of 3,765 camps that are a part of ACA of those only 2,292 are accredited. To be accredited everything has to meet ACA’s standards. The policies and procedures are put in place to implement the health and safety of campers and staff. Once a camp has received accreditation, they are responsible for maintaining the policies.
