As we continue celebrating Camp ASCCA’s 50th summer, we’re taking a look back at another space that has become an important part of the camper experience: the BCK4T.
The BCK4T has quickly become one of the most popular gathering spaces at Camp ASCCA, providing campers with an indoor environment where they can relax, socialize, and enjoy a variety of recreational activities. While it may feel like it has always been part of camp, the facility is a relatively recent addition to campus and represents the continued growth of Camp ASCCA’s programs and amenities.

In 2019, the former horse barn was transformed into the BCK4T, creating a unique indoor entertainment facility designed to provide campers with additional opportunities for recreation and connection. The project was made possible through the generosity and support of the Alabama Elks Association, Castone Corporation, Walker Area Community Foundation, Community Foundation of Greater Birmingham, Alabama District Pilot International, and Alfa Insurance.
The transformation of the space marked an exciting new chapter for Camp ASCCA. What was once a horse barn became a welcoming destination where campers could gather with friends, participate in activities, and enjoy time together regardless of the weather outside. The facility expanded the variety of experiences available to campers and quickly became a favorite stop during camp sessions.

As Camp ASCCA continued to identify new ways to meet the needs of campers, additional improvements were made to the facility. In 2022, the BCK4T underwent a significant expansion that added several new features designed to enhance accessibility, comfort, and engagement.
The expansion included the addition of a sensory room, providing a calming environment for campers who may benefit from a quieter space. A snack bar and additional seating areas were also added, creating more opportunities for campers to gather and spend time together. The project also introduced an indoor virtual reality gaming system, offering an exciting and innovative recreational experience that allows campers to explore new worlds and activities in an accessible setting.

This expansion was made possible through funding from the Solon & Martha Dixon Foundation, Alabama District Pilot International, and an anonymous donor whose generosity helped bring these enhancements to life.
Today, the BCK4T continues to serve as a place where campers can connect, play, and create lasting memories. Whether they’re enjoying a virtual reality experience, spending time with friends, grabbing a snack, or simply relaxing in the sensory room, the facility provides opportunities for fun, inclusion, and community.

The BCK4T reflects Camp ASCCA’s ongoing commitment to creating spaces that meet the diverse needs of campers while ensuring everyone has access to meaningful recreational experiences. It stands as a reminder of what can be accomplished through the support of generous donors, community partners, and individuals who believe in Camp ASCCA’s mission.
As we celebrate 50 years of Camp ASCCA, we are grateful for everyone who helped transform this space into the vibrant and welcoming facility it is today. The BCK4T continues to play an important role in camp life, and its impact will be felt by campers for years to come.
