ASCCA Staff Olympics

This morning our staff and campers competed in the 2015 ASCCA Olympics. These games ultimately decided the fate of who is going to receive Honor Cabin this week and everyone wants the title of Honor Cabin!

Each team was made up of 1 girl cabin and 1 guy cabin.
Todays teams were:

Moundville/Cheaha
Creek/Crow
Chickasaw/Choctaw
Cherokee/Redstick
The first event was the Best Belly Flop and a representative from each team got 2 chances to show off their Belly Floppin skills. We ended up having a tie between Creek/Crow and Cherokee/Redstick so they had to have a Belly Flop – Flop off… it got intense, but in the end Tommie Harris brought home the win for his team Cherokee/Redstick.

The second event was a canoe tug of war and each team sent 4 counselors to represent their team. There were 2 canoes that were tied together in the pool and each canoe had 4 counselors with 3 paddles. The object of the game was to pull the other teams canoe to your side of the pool without tipping over your canoe.
Cherokee/Redstick were the winners of this event as well.

The last event at the pool area was Battleship.
The object of the game Battleship is to be the first to sink your teams canoe by filling it up with buckets of water. It was a close game but in the end Cherokee/Redstick got the win!

After Battleship everyone made their way to the baseball field were we had a quick intermission performance by one of our PR Staff, Lauren Schifano. She performed a fire poi routine for us. Fire poi is a traditional Hawaiian dance that involves fire twirling. It was awesome!

After our intermission entertainment the games continued with a water relay, tug of war and the finale… an Interpretive Dance competition.

We had so much fun at the ASCCA Olympics and now we are all getting excited for PROM tonight!!

The next time you see us we will be ready to dance the night away!
