Honor Cabin… It’s Kind of a Big Deal

It is a Camp ASCCA tradition that the head counselors design a paddle that goes with the week’s theme and choose a cabin to give it to. This cabin is known as the honor cabin for the week! It is an extreme honor to be named cabin of the week because that means that your cabin stood out from the rest of the great cabins in a positive way.

Pilots Day 2017

Today, we were joined by Alabama Pilots Club members from throughout the state. Each summer, we host an annual “Pilots Day” where members visit Camp, spend the morning taking a tour around the campus, and finish the visit off with a delicious lunch alongside the ASCCA campers and staff.

Cargo Net Fun!

Today, we made our Cargo Net available as a Free Choice activity for the first time this summer! Although it was pretty hard to compete with other fun activities like pool, canoeing and hammocks at the OutPost, we still had a few campers stop by.

Horseback Riding for Everyone!

This week we have horseback riding as a rotation! Usually horseback is a sign-up activity in the afternoons during free choice time, but this week every camper gets the opportunity to ride the horse.

It’s SLIME time!

This afternoon during sign-up activities, campers and counselors headed to the demo farm with program staff employee Briana to make some slime! Campers cheered on

Session Four Get Ready to Soar!

What time is it? Camp ASCCA time! It feels like the summer just started but it’s already the beginning of session four! There are so many fun activities awaiting our campers this week and we cannot wait for all of them to experience new things.

Soul Stones!

While half our cabins had a pool party, Crow, Redstick, Chickasaw, and Creek cabins painted soul stones. This new activity here at camp will be one that lasts much longer than the week the campers are here. The campers and counselors painted their stones with whatever colors and words they wanted and let them dry.

Ain’t No Party like an ASCCA Pool Party!

Campers from Cheaha, Choctaw, Crow, Moundville, Cherokee, and Davis cabins splashed into the first night of Session 4 at tonight’s pool party! They enjoyed floating around with their fellow campers and watching the sun set.

Presenting the 2017 ASCCA Prom King and Queen

Congratulations are in order to the 2017 Teen Week Prom King Daniel Gonsalves and Prom Queen Kelsi Moore. Throughout the week, campers campaigned as voting day swiftly approached. There were signs on different buildings all across camp! Some people were like Kelsi and even brought yard signs which they stuck in the ground along sidewalks. The amount of preparation, creativity and effort put into everything was extremely impressive!
