We Scream for Ice Cream!

Today after dinner, campers and counselors all enjoyed free choice activities! A few groups were lucky enough to go to the Demo Farm and make homemade ice cream! Program staff employees Mary and Briana led the exciting event.

Fourth of July Camp ASCCA Style

Fourth of July celebrations began bright and early as campers and counselors showed up in their finest patriotic attire at flag raising. Morning rotations continued as usual, but the real celebration began at dinner!

Pool Party, Take 2

We think it’s safe to say that the first full day of Session 1 was a success! Earlier in the day, campers enjoyed various activity rotations with our awesome Program Staff, ate some tasty food and ended the night with even more fun. Our campers who enjoyed free choice activities on Sunday night got to make a splash with their friends at tonight’s pool party!

Overcoming Fears

Today was the first full day of activities and smiling faces filled Camp ASCCA! Two campers overcame some of their biggest camp fears… the water slide and zipline!

Serve Sunday!

The first day of camp came and went quickly! Some cabins attended a pool party while others enjoyed evening free choice. One of the most popular activies was tennis! Making it a Serve Sunday!

Bingo at the OutPost

While some campers and counselors ended their first night with a pool party, others headed down to the OutPost for Bingo! Led by members of our Adventure Program Staff, campers were able to play several rounds by themselves or with the help of a counselor. Whoever reached Bingo first got to pick from a selection of prizes which included things like bubbles, a cloth phone case, bracelets, HotWheels cars and more!

Becoming ASCCA (Video)

New counselors, Kathryn & Tyrell, share their experiences from Camp ASCCA’s staff orientation in our newest video! – Clayton Smith, PR Camp ASCCA Summer 2017

Fun at the OutPost!

After a full day of orientation and training, our staff enjoyed burgers, hot dogs and nachos at the OutPost! Built primarily by Camp Administrator John Stephenson, it has a structure similar to that of a tiki bar, with a concession area where we serve shaved ice, nachos and other fun snacks. ASCCA pictures recreated by Social Media Specialist Kasey Langley decorate the walls and there’s even a stage! A lot of the staff experienced the OutPost for the first time and are really excited about the cool ideas we have planned for it, this summer.

Waterfront Training

The waterfront is one of the most beloved locations at Camp ASCCA! Campers look forward to sliding down the long slide going down the hill and going tubing in the lake for the entire year. It takes much knowledge and practice to know how to effectively transfer a camper into a small inflatable boat and tube. Today, the aquatic staff taught the counselors how to properly perform the task with Camp Director Matt Rickman alongside.

Dress for Success

Today our staff members learned dressing and diaper techniques from head counselors Jay Gosselin and Sarah Shaner. After the explation, unit leaders led practice sessions for the staff to get hands-on experience.

Shooting Sports Safety and Transfers!

Old and new comers are still enjoying Camp ASCCA’s 2017 Staff Orientation! As we close in on day three of orientation, we have learned how to properly transfer from different spots around camp and the importance of safety at different programs. Other than singing camp songs on the people mover, today, counselors and program staff learned or were refreshed on the rules associated with shooting sports and how to properly transfer campers to and from canoes and horses.
