On Tuesday, members from the Cahaba Valley Elks Lodge traveled to Camp to make a donation to the camp kitchen. The item donated was a 20-tier shelving rack, and they even took the time to assemble it and mark it with a special plaque. The need for a shelving rack was discovered when Elks member Barbara Shinpaugh volunteered during camp one day last summer.
Barbara had the opportunity to work alongside Food Services Director Enis Higgs and his staff. When there was a break in the mealtime hustle, Barbara asked Enis what some of his main kitchen needs were and a shelving rack was one of them. Carol Stern also played an integral part in motivating the Elks Lodge to raise the money for the donation. The ladies were also joined by Bob Shinpaugh, a former Elks State President and Barbara’s husband, for their trip to Camp ASCCA.
We are thankful for the continued support from groups like the Cahaba Valley Elks Lodge and look forward to future ventures!
