Camp ASCCA Summer Staff meets Allison Wetherbee

On Tuesday, June 24, Camp ASCCA summer staff members had the privilege of hearing Miss Allison Wetherbee speak. Allison was born with quadrilateral tetra-amelia; meaning she was born without arms or legs. She spoke about her childhood and how her parents raised her as “normal” as possible. Allison went off to college in the Fall of 1989 and attended Auburn University at Montgomery, graduating in the Spring of 1996 with a Masters Degree in Mental Health Counseling.

When Allison was 9 years old she started coming to Camp ASCCA. Many years later, Camp ASCCA is still a huge part of her life. In 2007, Allison accepted the job as Director of Public Relations for Camp ASCCA. Today, Allison is the Director of Community Relations. She travels throughout the state of Alabama as the main spokesperson for Camp ASCCA. While traveling around the state, Allison shares details about her life and about the many years she has had with Camp ASCCA.
