Easter Seals Camp ASCCA will receive a $4,000 grant from the Community Foundation of Greater Birmingham to support its technology upgrades. The grant came from the Community Funds of the Community Foundation, the unrestricted endowment created by a community of donors who want to support greater Birmingham forever.
Campers visit from across the state of Alabama, including the five-county area of Birmingham. Camp ASCCA served 7,149 people in 2009, of which 670 were from the five-county Birmingham area.
Camp ASCCA needed to upgrade and replace five existing and outdated computers and associated software/hardware to carry out daily administrative functions related to accounting, camper registration, marketing, and public relations.
Additionally, leadership of Camp ASCCA had recognized the need to purchase a flat screen television and DVD player for the Camp ASCCA dining and social hall. The television and DVD player will complete the upgrades to the audio/visual system in the building. The dining and social hall is used daily during camp sessions for not only meals, but also for social activities, camp programs, and weekly camp slideshows. It is also an area used for group banquets, meetings, and special events requiring audio/visual aids.
