Yesterday, something truly magical happened at Camp ASCCA. Michael Kelly, one of our unit leaders, was joined by his brother Brandon, who made a surprise visit, bringing unexpected joy to one of our campers. This camper, who often struggles to be understood, found a unique and beautiful friendship with Brandon during his previous time working here. Their bond was evident as soon as they saw each other. The camper’s face lit up with a smile that could brighten even the cloudiest day. It was a reminder of the incredible connections that are forged at Camp ASCCA, where understanding and acceptance are at the heart of our community.
In 2015, this special friendship began to blossom because Brandon took the time to understand and communicate with the camper in a way that no one else could. It’s a testament to the patience, empathy, and genuine care that our staff and volunteers bring to camp every day. These relationships go beyond simple interactions; they are built on mutual respect and deep understanding. At Camp ASCCA, we believe that every camper has a story to tell and a unique way of expressing themselves. The friendships formed here are not only beautiful but also transformative. They show us that when we take the time to truly listen and connect, we can bridge any gap and create bonds that last a lifetime.
This heartwarming reunion reminds us all of the power of friendship and the special magic that happens at Camp ASCCA. It’s a place where everyone is seen, heard, and valued for who they are. And that’s what makes our camp so special. We are thrilled to have Brandon staying with us for the week, continuing to spread his joy and love for the campers.
