Employees from East Alabama Medical Center visited Camp ASCCA today for their team building event, Camp Ignite, that occurs every two years. They were split into groups and put to the test by ASCCA staff on the low ropes course and the Ziptower. Each team wore a different color shirt and had to come up with a team name. Before any of the course challenges began, everyone gathered in the gym where each team was expected to make a sign for their team and perform a special cheer. Some groups went old school and reworded cheerleading chants while others created dance performances.
Once everyone was well-hydrated and ready to go, we all headed out for the low ropes course behind the girls’ cabins. Each group was led by one of the Camp ASCCA full-time staff members. As the participants approached each challenge, you could find a look of concern on at least one person’s face. However, every team did a great job of motivating each other and ensuring confidence in their abilities.
There were set guidelines for each challenge, and many times, there was at least one member of the group who came in ready to lead and get his/her team to the finish line. Although, there was a twist. Anyone who had participated in previous years of Camp Ignite was not allowed to share the secrets of each challenge. Nonetheless, each team worked together to conquer the challenge no matter how many times they had to restart or literally lift each other up.
As always, the Camp Ignite t-shirt carries the design of a campground surrounded by a specific list of words that describes the goal of today’s activities. Negotiate, inspire, teamwork, engaged, initiative, and goal-oriented, are the words that the East Alabama Medical Center operates off of and wants their employees to strive for each day.
It was an eventful day for everyone in attendance, and we are always excited to work with the team from the East Alabama Medical Center! We hope that they carry the lessons they learned at Camp Ignite into their everyday activities as they return to work with the very same people they were cheering on and lifting up today.
