Campers oohed and awed when they walked by the pavilion today. Judy Williams, employee for Talladega Superspeedway, pulled up to camp in the official pace car for Talladega Speedway! She explained that it’s not used for laps but in parades and showcased as a show car.
Williams started bringing the car to camp when she first started working for Talladega Speedway in 2001 and has tried to bring it every summer at least once ever since. We will see it twice this summer!
So why does she do it? Well for one, Williams loves to watch the campers’ reactions because they know what racing is and enjoy watching it, but Williams has deeper ties to Camp ASCCA. She started working here in 1972 and held various positions such as pool director and head counselor!
