Today marks my last day of working for Camp ASCCA. It’s a sad day for me because I adored making huge impacts on campers’ lives through the lens of a camera and a keyboard. I also loved the moments outside of my primary job, such as dancing with people and going down the waterslide on a camper’s request. The staff may change over the years, but the memories from this summer will stay for a long time…all thanks to the power of the media!
The most lasting memory I had was Teen Week. Not only I had a blast covering covering special events, like snippets of the scuba diving session and the wheelchair basketball clinic, in which the teen campers did they wanted to do (no matter what condition they may have). It was also the week where I watched campers took advantage of one week where they didn’t have to worry about the stresses at home and school. This was most evident at the 2013 Prom, when the campers partied all night and had the opportunity to enjoy a prom setting. Some of them may not had the chance to go at school, but I’m was glad that Camp ASCCA provided them the oulet to experience prom.
It was a pleasure writing, picture-taking, and recording for Camp ASCCA this summer. I pray that I can come back next year, ready to run around camp to capture precious moments. Thank you campers for and staff members for allowing me to not only take snapshots of the fun you all had, but also sharing those joys to the world-wide web. I also want to thank Rachel and Clayton for taking awesome pictures and record all those memories with me. We sure did made campers have the best times of their lives.
Enjoy the rest of your summer! In the meantime, we have more pictures to show on Camp ASCCA’s Flickr page. Check them out and share them with the world!
