Cardboard Boat Regatta

For Orientation Week, the staff decided to try out something new. They devised an activity called “Cardboard Boat Regatta” where a group of people would work together to build a boat out of cardboard and win in a race.

Many different styles of boats were devised. Some had the floats sandwiched between pieces of cardboard, while others were placed high so that water would not get into it.

Once the boats were finished, the passengers would get into costume and race against each other. It was a very tight race, but one group called “The Donkeys” emerged as winners.

Being a brand new activity, the staff has learned a lot from this attempt and will most likely make this an annual tradition in the future. Either way, everybody involved had a blast!
