It was a rainy day here at Camp yesterday, but we still had a great time inside. Instead of the planned free choice activities, we had Casino Night in the afternoon! It consisted of many different casino inspired games. Although there was no actual gambling going on, we still had a bunch of fun.
When the campers first walked into the dining hall, they got nachos and their game chips that they could use to play games if they chose too. It felt like a huge arcade in a casino setting. The tables were set up to where each one would be a different game. After the campers decided they were done playing games, they were able to cash them in at the prize station. These prizes were awesome! They had everything from candy and toy cars to full size princess dresses.
The event was run by our awesome program staff. In a casino, they would have been the dealers because they had the outfits and even the impressions of their voices to match. They were at each station making sure every camper was enjoying their time, following the rules and of course winning. They had games like Higher or Lower, Matching, and Card Swap, etc. They even had a real slot machine! I even sat down and played a game of Higher or Lower because all of the campers were having so much fun. When it was time to shut the casino down, the campers went over to purchase their prizes. They had to have at least ten chips to get anything from the table. Every camper had way more than that, and if staff won chips, they would give them away to other campers so that they were able to get even more things.
