Dancing the Night Away

With session one of Camp ASCCA coming to an end, there is only one thing to do… Dance! Last night after our rewards banquet, we all got dressed up and put on our dancing shoes, it was time for the first dance of the summer. The Camp ASCCA dance is such a wonderful experience, and it gives everyone the opportunity to let loose and have some fun with their friends and the Camp ASCCA staff.

A special shout out to our DJ, DJ Cody for making last night tonight such a fun night by playing a combination of party music like Bruno Mars, and some slow dancing music, like Ed Sheeran. Everyone is welcomed to the dance but a lot of our campers ask a special person to go to the dance with them, or to save them a dance. Throughout the week, campers can write “love notes” to each other, which will be read aloud at every meal, the love notes add a little extra fun to the dance.

Dancing the night away was the mission for last night, and I think we all accomplished it. As I walked around taking pictures of people dancing, I could only see smiles on the campers faces as they danced with their Camp crush, a friend, or their favorite counselor. My favorite part about last night was watching the campers, who seemed to be shy all week long dance like it was no one else’s business. That is what separates Camp ASCCA and what makes it so special, campers can be themselves here, and who is not having fun when they are being themselves.

Be sure to check out all the photos from last night’s dance and from this entire week by visiting out Flickr. As next week starts session two, make sure to follow our Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter for updates about life at Camp.
