Camp ASCCA nominated Dr. Glenn Roswal of Jacksonville to be a 2015 recipient of an Easter Seals Alabama Distinguished Award. This award is presented occasionally to a volunteer who has made outstanding and unusual contributions, over a period of at least 10 years to Easter Seals Alabama programs and services, locally, statewide or on a national level.
Dr. Glenn Roswal has been a great friend to Camp ASCCA for over 25 years. He has served three terms on the Board of Directors and once as Board Chair. Before his retirement as a Health and Physical Education professor at Jacksonville State University, he annually brought students to Camp ASCCA to volunteer at Camp ASCCA to work on construction projects, serve as counselors, and at times, provide financial contributions. His leadership and resourcefulness for giving and find ways for others to support Camp ASCCA is unmatched. He has made personal contributions, made donations to projects like the Roswal-Levy Climbing Tower and the Roswal-Levy Tennis Pavilion, and made plans for a legacy gift. He has expanded Camp ASCCA’s reach by bringing in new board members, recruiting new campers, and even collaborating with Beijing Sports University for a two-week summer camp experience at Camp ASCCA for Chinese families with children with disabilities for the past two years. For his caring of the Camp ASCCA mission and for helping to provide for wonderful and exciting opportunities for children and adults with disabilities.
The Easter Seals Alabama Annual Awards Luncheon was held on December 16, 2015 at Wynlakes Country Club in Montgomery. These awards celebrate the consumers, clients, staff, volunteers, organizations, and others that contribute to the mission of serving children and adults with disabilities in the state of Alabama through Easter Seals.
