Drake Middle School Visits Camp ASCCA

Over the past two weeks, sixth grade students from Drake Middle School in Auburn have traveled to Camp ASCCA for day-long field trips full of adventure and team building. Each day, the students are split into groups that will rotate around the campus to the zipline, waterslide, canoeing, swimming pool, group elements, and kickball. There is always an enthusiastic energy with this group as the students and teachers are excited to step out of the classroom for a day.

At the zipline, the students have the opportunity to show their team spirit and support for their classmates. The group elements activities offer a similar atmosphere but push the students to take that extra step in working together to complete puzzles and specific challenges. The water activities are always a hit as well because the Alabama summer heat tends to still linger in September. At canoeing, the ASCCA staff even teaches the students proper paddling techniques as well as a little history about Lake Martin. The students often get most excited when teachers and parents jump into the activity with them, and it always turns into a happy memory for everyone involved.

Here at Camp ASCCA, we work hard to make visits like this a learning experience that still includes plenty of fun, and the Drake Middle School students, teachers, and parents always leave with a smile and a readiness to share their stories when they return home.
