Drivin’ for a United Community

Easter Seals Camp ASCCA is one of 24 agencies in Tallapoosa and Coosa Counties that receive funding from the Lake Martin Area United Way. The annual support comes from area individuals, corporations, and business owners who give generously to the United Way. Local automobile parts manufacturing company, KwangSung, is this year’s campaign “pace setter”, thus this year’s theme is “Drivin’ for a United Community”.

Last night at the Betty Carol Graham Technology Center in Alexander City, the Lake Martin Area United Way held its campaign kick-off event. The event had a racing theme, complete with a derby car race in which dozens of cars were entered from local companies and individuals. The participating agencies that receive funding, including Camp ASCCA, set up displays so that community members could learn more about where there donations go to help!

Chick-fil-A, Auburn-Magnolia Ave. location, provided the dinner and the Chic-fil-A cow mascot was also there to entertain children and adults alike. Speaking of mascots, Aubie from Auburn University also showed up as well!

We at Camp ASCCA appreciate the staff and volunteers from the Lake Martin Area United Way that support so many great people in the community. We have many campers from this local area that benefit from the annual donation. It is because of the donors and volunteers that understand the mission of the United Way, many people with disabilities are supported financially each year.
