On December 10th, Camp ASCCA staff had the privilege of attending the annual Easterseals Alabama Awards Luncheon. The event recognized outstanding partners and individuals through Gold Awards, Service Awards, Special Recognition Awards, and Business Awards. This year, we were especially proud to nominate and present a Service Award to Alabama Baptist Disaster Relief for their extraordinary support this summer.
Our summer took an unexpected turn when lightning struck our Dining Hall during check-in for Session #3. What happened next was remarkable. Within just 24 hours, we were connected with Alabama Baptist Disaster Relief, and thanks to their generosity, efficiency, and willingness to step in, Camp ASCCA was back up and running in no time.
With four sessions still ahead of us, we welcomed a new Alabama Baptist Disaster Relief Mass Feeding team each week. Their commitment ensured that our campers, families, and staff continued to experience the magic of camp without interruption. Our gratitude for their service and partnership is immeasurable.

Presenting them with a Service Award was just one way we could express our thanks. Their open hearts and helping hands made it possible for us to finish the summer strong, and we are deeply appreciative.
During the ceremony, Easterseals Alabama’s CEO also recognized administrators from its affiliates. Our own administrator, John Stephenson, was honored for his decades of service to Camp ASCCA. John has been part of the ASCCA family for more than 30 years, dedicating himself to strengthening our facilities, programs, and the lives of people with disabilities. To know John is to know the heart of Camp ASCCA.
Congratulations to all nominees and award recipients! We are grateful to be part of such an inspiring community.
