Last Saturday we had some members from the Alabama Elks Association join us for Elks Day at Camp ASCCA. There are twenty-three Elk lodges in Alabama. We are so grateful that they were able to come and visit Camp. We had many representatives from different lodges participate. Even though Camp was not in session and there are not any campers to visit with, we did provide tours all around Camp. They got to take a boat ride on the “Floating Elk” tritoon that they sponsored last year.
The Bessemer Lodge provided the meal, grilling hamburgers and hotdogs for everyone. They made a $50,000 donation for our capital projects. State President Shirley Jerrell, from the Dothan Elks Lodge, presented the check to our administrator John Stephenson. A memorial donation was also made from the Bessemer Lodge in honor of those who have passed last year. Other individual members also made personal donations. We hope to see the Elks back next summer when Camp is in full swing!
