Friends of ASCCA: Chad Shares About Fall Family Weekend

Hey Counselors and Friends!

This was my first time attending Fall Family Weekend Camp. The check-in process without meds takes about 5 minutes. First was a temperature check with Chris and Tre at the gate, then to the gym to see Pearl for name tags, followed by Nurse Abbey for the health screening. Next was the game room for blister packaging meds drop-off with Caroline and Rebecca, and then it was off to the cabin. The cabins were Choctaw/Crow, Davis, and Moundville/Chickasaw. After that, it was off to the Lions Lodge for dinner (Papa John’s Pizza) and a dance with DJ Grayson.

On Saturday, the boys did the flag raising, then breakfast (Pop-Tarts, granola bars, muffins, cereal/milk). After that, we went to the gym to find our group number. There are four program rotation activities, and they run back-to-back nonstop all day (like previous summers during Mobile Rotary Week). First was archery with Lexi, followed by arts and crafts with Kendall. Then it was back to the Lions Lodge for lunch (deli sandwich/chips, salad bar) and a rest period. We picked back up with snacks in the gym and the T-shirt shop. Then it was zipline with Grayson, Riley, and Ashlyn, followed by nature with Pearl. Dinner was pulled pork, mac and cheese, pork and beans, and salad bar. We ended the day with a Carver Commodore concert

On Sunday, the girls were supposed to do flag raising, then breakfast (Pop-Tarts, granola bars, muffins), and we ended the Fall Weekend with a talent show. It was raining so badly that morning, so instead of having it at the OutPost we did it in the basement of Lions Lodge.

Coming up on December 13, the Jingle Jump fundraiser! All of the money raised goes to sending a camper to Camp ASCCA for a week in the summer.
