Friends of ASCCA: Chad Shares About Mardi Gras

Hey counselors and friends!

Mardi Gras is always celebrated on the Tuesday before Ash Wednesday. We’ve had a “Mardi Gras” theme at Camp ASCCA multiple times. I remember a couple, especially during Camp Mobile Rotary Week in 2014 (Session 5) and again in 2023 during Teen Week (Session 4). This should get you pumped up for Camp ASCCA Summer 2025!

For those who don’t know, Mardi Gras Song has been an anthem in Mobile since it was originally recorded by the rap duo 2 Major Twinz in 2007. DJs from 93BLX blast this song before every parade:

“Moonpie, moonpie, throw me some beads… It’s Mardi Gras time in the M.O.B.”

You can check it out on Spotify, YouTube, and more.

Each session at Camp ASCCA has a slightly different schedule, and Teen Week is especially different. During this week, campers enjoy a special “Girls’ Day” and “Boys’ Day” to prepare for prom. The staff also sets up a designated area for prom photos, giving campers and counselors a chance to capture special memories together.

Camp ASCCA is still hiring for this upcoming summer, they need counselors, program staff, PR interns, and nurses! Soon, Amber will be sending an email if you signed up for the pre-paid t-shirt during register, so keep an eye out!
