Hey counselors and friends! Camp ASCCA just wrapped up its 48th summer. I attended Session 3, and my check-in process lasted about 15 minutes. I had no medications, so I got done faster and was the first camper to enter the boy’s cabin area!
Sunday evening, after we did our camper/counselor pictures and had Papa John’s pizza for dinner, we had evening free-choice activities. I went to karaoke at the OutPost, met some new staff members, and made new friends.
On Monday morning, Cherokee and Creek had flag raising, and then my group went to the Demo Farm with Avery! We got to pet, feed, and love the animals. There were baby chicks there, and I even got to name one! After the farm, we visited nature with Will at the new Tom Collier Nature & Welcome Center. Later in the afternoon, I went to arts and crafts with Kendall and made signs. I was able to meet more new staff, including some CITs. That night, we had a pool party!
On Tuesday, Choctaw and Chickasaw did flag raising, and then my group went to archery with Chris. In archery, you have five tries to shoot the target. After archery, we went to the zipline with Emily, Tre, Timmy, and Grace. I was able to pull the rope up to the top. That afternoon, we had free-choice activities. I chose to sign up for LPR. LPR is the zipline at the pond. We were given a bag with a helmet and harness, and we walked to the top of the hill. Tuesday night, we had our talent show. Choctaw Cabin was our opening act, and they performed the National Anthem.
Wednesday, my group went to arts and crafts with Kendall and made a popsicle stick flag. After arts and crafts, we went to the pool with lifeguard Kayanna. That afternoon, I went to the pizza class at the Dining Hall. The staff from Little Italy Pizzeria in Auburn taught us how to roll and toss the pizza dough and properly make a pizza. That night, we had a concert with Taylor Hunnicutt at the BcK4t.
On Thursday, Davis Lodge had flag raising, and we had our final program rotations of the week. We went tubing with Emma, Bri, and Kayana, and then the BcK4t with Grayson. At the BcK4t, we watched High School Musical and played arcade games like Pac-Man and Ms. Pac-Man. That afternoon, we had an extended rest period and spent that time getting ready for the dance later that night. DJ Tre held the dance in the basement of Lions Lodge, and it was so fun. After the dance, we walked to the Big Stage for our 4th of July fireworks show!
Friday morning, after breakfast, we watched our weekly slideshow and then headed back to the cabins to get ready for checkout.
For my birthday this month, I am raising money for Camp ASCCA. If you want to donate click here.
