The friendships I’ve made at Camp are pretty special to me. Believe it or not, the friends that I’ve made at ASCCA are the truest friends I’ve ever had. I love it how I can be 100% myself in front of all of those friends and not feel like I’m being judged. They’ll be there for me whenever I need a shoulder to lean on, laugh with, or just talk to about anything and everything with. Even though I don’t get to see them on a daily basis, I know that I can always count on my friends to be there for me. If I message them, they reply within minutes or if you’re my friend Clay he’ll reply a few hours later. He truly means well. He just stinks at replying, and that’s perfectly okay.
I talk to my Camp friends daily. I text some and Snapchat some. We always keep in touch with each other.
It’s nice to know that I have people that “get it”, can understand, and will accept me for who I am regardless if I have a disability. Making friends like true friends hasn’t been the easiest for me but having the Camp friends that I have makes my life much brighter and happier.
Each and every one of my Camp friends mean a lot to me. I don’t think they know how much of an impact they’ve had on my life. They each bring something special to my life and I value the friendships I have with them so much.
I also enjoy having friends that live all over. I have one friend that lives in Auburn, one that lives in Georgia, and one that lives an hour away from me. I even met a guy from Spain last summer. I don’t talk to the guy from Spain now, but it was cool meeting him! Anyways, I really like having these friendships with people that live in different places because I can always ask them about the place they live and compare it to where I live. It’s very cool that the majority of my friend group is very diverse. Another thing that’s cool about that is I might not see these friends all the time, but when I do see them it’s that much sweeter.
People of Camp, I suggest you stay close to your ASCCA friends because they are one of a kind, truly.
Camp friendships are the best friendships.
