Hammocks at the OutPost

Our newest OutPost building has quickly become a favorite amongst campers and staff! Throughout the summer it’s been the ideal location for Talent Show Tuesdays, our first annual ASCCApalooza and even a few karaoke sessions. Another cool activity that everyone’s enjoyed here, is Hammocks and Music at the OutPost.

During Free Choice Activity rotations, counselors are able to set up their ENO hammocks at designated posts surrounding the OutPost building. Hammocking grew to be a pretty popular activity in summer’s past, so Camp Administrator John Stephenson figured it’d be a nice add-on. It certainly enhances the laid back and relaxing vibe the OutPost has.

The music side of this new Free Choice Activity is brought to us by Music Director Jared Montague. As campers and counselors hang out in their hammocks, Jared plays the piano softly in the background sending some campers into a deep slumber. Between Jared’s musical talents and the nice summer breeze, it’s the perfect outdoor nap combination.

If they’re not asleep in a hammock, you can find other campers sitting front and center watching Jared play the piano! Or even lounging on one of the sofas writing loves notes to be read at dinner, looking through a magazine, or drawing a picture of whatever comes to mind. We’re so glad that everyone has been able to enjoy all that the OutPost has to offer and we can’t wait to come up with more ways it can be used!
