There’s nothing quite like the thrill of watching campers pick up a bow, take aim, and let an arrow fly! Today at Camp ASCCA, our archery range was busy with excitement as campers took turns testing their skills. But one moment stood out above the rest, and his name is Cody.
Cody, one of our incredible campers who is blind, decided to give archery a try. He absolutely crushed it! With the help of our amazing staff and some adaptive techniques, Cody listened closely to guidance, drew back his bow, and his arrow hit the target! The cheers from fellow campers and counselors could probably be heard all the way across Lake Martin.

However, hitting the bullseye was not enough for Cody. He was on a mission to strike down the apple resting atop the target. Chris helped Cody position himself, adjust his grip, and feel the tension of the bowstring. Then, with everyone holding their breath, Cody took his best shot. The arrow soared through the air and pierced straight through the apple
This is what Camp ASCCA is all about inclusion, determination, and celebrating every victory, big or small. Whether it’s a first-time shooter or a returning archery pro, everyone had a chance to shine. Cody proved once again that with the right support and a little courage, anything is possible.
