This week we have horseback riding as a rotation! Usually horseback is a sign-up activity in the afternoons during free choice time, but this week every camper gets the opportunity to ride the horse.
Our Horseback Riding Director Isabel Pickett is leading the program with Fishing Director Justin Ward helping her out. The campers and counselors waited under the gazebo for their turn. They drew with sidewalk chalk and talked until Isabel called for the next camper to ride our horse Skip.
Once it was a camper’s turn, staff made sure the camper had on a waist harness and a helmet and led them onto the ramp to mount Skip. When they were ready to ride, the camper told Skip to walk and Isabel led the horse away from the platform. Justin and one of the counselors walked on either side of Skip around the ring.
Each camper went one or two circles around the ring and stopped for a photo before letting another camper have a turn.
