We had four schools from Houston County, Alabama here with us this week, May 20-23rd. The special education classes from Wicksburg High School, Rehobeth schools, Ashford Elementary, and Ashford High School all joined together at Camp ASCCA for end-of-the-school-year fun!
The camp activities they enjoyed included the waterslide, splash pad, putt-putt course, tubing, boat rides, zip-line, nature activities, and much more! This is an annual trip for this group and we are excited to have them visit each year to kick off our summer camps!
Speaking of annual trips, Dr. Mike Hall’s “Recreation for Special Populations” class at UNA for undergrads and graduate students also comes down to camp to provide volunteer work with the Houston County students. They join right in and act as volunteer counselors. We are not sure who is having more fun – Dr. Hall, the UNA students, or the Houston Co. campers!
Take a look at a few pictures taken of their visit here on our Flickr page.
