Hello again! My name is Clayton Smith. I was born and raised in Dadeville, Alabama. I am currently a junior at Columbia College Chicago where I study filmmaking (or Cinema Arts + Sciences, the fancier name). I’m working to become a film producer and documentarian.
As a filmmaker, my goal is to bring a person/community’s story to life. Everybody has a story to tell, and with the power of filmmaking we can capsulate it for the whole world to see. As a documentary filmmaker, I work to figure out how I should structure the elements (camerawork, editing, sound, etc.) of my movies. As a film producer, I focus on figuring out what people want to see in my movies and how to promote my work. It’s never easy, but my love for the art form keeps me going.
Which brings me to my job at ASCCA. This will be my fifth summer as part of Camp ASCCA’s Public Relations Staff. People always ask me about what keeps me coming back to this summer camp. My answer has always been the people. Whether they be a camper, counselor, or camper’s parent, everybody has a strong connection to this wonderful place. I want to document their experiences and share it with the rest of the world.
Be sure to stay tuned to Camp ASCCA’s YouTube channel to see my future content. As well as be sure to check out Flickr, Instagram, Twitter, and website for great work from my fellow PR members. It’s gonna be an incredible summer and I’m excited to be apart of this establishment again.
