It’s The Eighties!

Dancin! Dancin! Dancin! It was the night of nights and we were feeling truly amazing! The day started out extremely sunny and with programs just as usual. Later on during free choice a storm came over camp and it was looking like the rest of free choice would be cancelled unfortunately. However the day was cut a little short, the dance most definitely must go on.

We went from our cabins to the dining hall for dinner and the best meal before a dance can only be chicken tenders. Every time after dinner and the awards Mr. Matt Rickman always acts as if that’s the last thing and it’s time to go to sleep. But everyone else knows it’s time to dance so they did exactly what they always do to get pumped for the dance. They chant, “It’s time to dance! Dance! Dance!” or anything like that. After that program staff cleared all the tables and chairs so that the dance floor could be created. Every camper and counselor was brought in and recognized as if they were stars going to an afterparty because everyday is a party at Camp ASCCA. The energy of all the campers and staff was incredibly overwhelming tonight. DJ Cody played an entire eighties playlist and we all loved it. My personal favorite was the last song of the night, Time of My Life from the Dirty Dancing soundtrack. It was the perfect way to end the night with the last dance of the best end song of a movie.

After the last song we ended the night with a slideshow that the PR staff creates at the end of every session. It is a mixture of pictures of all the campers of this week that we have taken. It was truly an emotional show and we can’t wait till next week so we can start the next one.

Be sure to check out all the photos from last night’s dance and from this entire week by visiting out Flickr. As next week starts session two, make sure to follow our Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter for updates about life at Camp.
