Session 3 has began, and everyone including the Camp ASCCA staff is ready for another great week. Yesterday, campers arrived with their families and said their goodbyes before a week at Camp ASCCA. This week is Teen Week here at Camp, and we wasted no time yesterday getting started.
Shortly after check-in, we all enjoyed some delicious dinner and jumped straight into a night of fun activities. Last night was different than any other opening night we have had this summer. Last night, we had a “get to know you” mixer. This gave the staff and the campers the opportunity to get to know one another before spending the week together. For this mixer, our Camp DJ, DJ Cody, played some great music while campers and staff danced the night away.
This was different than the ordinary dance we have every week because besides the music we had a snack bar open for everyone. With the dining hall split in half, one side being a dance floor, and the other the snack bar, it allowed a perfect combination of dancing and social interactions among us all. One thing that was so special about last night is that it allowed our campers to grow out of their shell and shine for who they are as a person. Being in a social environment is something that a lot of our campers do not get the chance to experience on a daily basis, so last night, everyone had the opportunity to be social with each other.
