Camp ASCCA had the privilege of hosting the annual Hall Foundation May 21-24. This week combines participants from Dothan, Montgomery, and Muscle Shoals Therapeutic Recreation Centers, students from The University of North Alabama, and various staff members.
The students arrived Monday afternoon, moved into their cabins, got acquainted with this week’s schedule, and learned a little more about our campers.
Tuesday afternoon, our campers arrived! Upon arrival, our staff and UNA students greeted them and helped with their luggage. For many campers, this is a week they look forward to all year. A week at Camp ASCCA is better than a week anywhere else.
Tuesday evening, after getting comfortable and settled, we jumped right into the fun for the week. Everyone got the chance to have free play in the gym or play a little putt-putt. After dinner, we ended our night with an ice cream party, and hanging out at the pool!
Wednesday began like any other typical morning at Camp ASCCA with flag raising and breakfast. Once everyone was fueled with a delicious breakfast we began our program rotations. Groups went tubing, on a boat ride, and got to experience the waterslide! That afternoon, after our much-needed rest period, we started with free-choice activities. Campers had the choice of canoeing, playing at the splash pad, making friendship bracelets, or playing putt-putt. We closed out the day with a talent show at the OutPost!
Thursday, our morning programs included the zipline, pool, and splash pad! The water was perfect because we were in for a warm day. That afternoon, we had more free-choice activities like the demo farm, pool, and bungee trampoline. Thursday night, we ended with a dance at the BcK4T! We danced until we couldn’t dance anymore. It was a great way to end a great week.
We look forward to hosting the Hall Foundation every year, and this was no exception. They are the best group to kick off our summer season with. Thank you to our campers, staff, and UNA students for creating the best atmosphere and giving us all an unforgettable week. We are already counting down the days until next year!
