Kiwanis Supports ASCCA Through Camperships

The Kiwanis Club of Huntsville, a nonprofit organization that focuses on serving youth in the area, sponsored Kenyon Reyes and Ariyon Evans to attend Session 1 here at ASCCA.

Groups like Kiwanis send campers to ASCCA at no cost to them, even arranging transportation to and from camp. ASCCA’s Director of Marketing Communications Dana Rickman said, “We are very thankful for the Kiwanis Club for their many years of support for children and adults with disabilities.”

Kenyon Reyes

Kenyon, a first time camper from Albertville, was paired with Dakota Goosby, a first time counselor from Sardis City. Out of the week’s activities, Kenyon enjoyed riflery and archery the most.

Dakota’s favorite memory with Kenyon was playing basketball with him. Dakota described him as optimistic and “down to do anything.” Kenyon was willing to try any activity camp had to offer.

Ariyon Evans

Ariyon, a third time camper from Decatur, spent the week with Kathryn Kelley, a first time counselor from Gadsden. During her week at camp, Ariyon had the most fun at tubing.

After spending the week as her counselor, Kathryn said Ariyon was calm and collected as well as high spirited and sweet. She enjoyed “dancing with her, anywhere and everywhere.”

Both campers are excited to return to camp again next year, and ASCCA will welcome them back with open arms. Check our Flickr for more photos of Kenyon and Ariyon from last week and our Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter to see all of the fun we have here at camp!
