Each day this week, I will be focusing on one individual from our program staff that is a part of our adventure team here at Camp ASCCA. Today, I will tell you a little about Alyssa del Valle.
Alyssa is from Plant City, Florida, and this is her fourth summer working for Camp ASCCA. Her time at Camp has been filled with two main jobs such as being a counselor, and a unit leader for two years. This summer is her first summer being a part of our program staff, and she is excited about new experiences. This summer, Alyssa is part of our adventure staff, and when I asked her why she wanted to be a part of adventure staff she said, “I love being outside and being able to work with the campers and watching them face their personal fears and seeing them overcome their fears. Nothing beats seeing campers faces when they finally reach the top and watching them zipline down. That is what makes adventure staff so special to me.”
We have a new zipline here at Camp, and Alyssa is very excited for it. She added, “We have not had a new zipline in a long time, so I am excited to see how the campers react to it.” Along with adventure staff, Alyssa is involved in arts and crafts and karaoke. She says karaoke is an “hour outside jamming with your friends, and it gives the campers a taste of the talent show. It also gives campers the chance to sing all of their favorite songs instead of just one.” Alyssa had a lot of good things to say about Camp, but her favorite thing is that “Camp is a place where everyone fits in for being them and that everything at Camp is accessible for every camper that comes.” Alyssa is very special to us here at Camp, and it is people like her that make Camp ASCCA such a fun and safe camp.
