Each day this week, I will be focusing on one individual from our program staff that is a part of our Camp ASCCA farm staff. Today, I will tell you a little about Briana Rock.
Briana is from Birmingham, Alabama, and this will be her fifth summer working at Camp ASCCA. Briana knows her way around Camp because she has done a lot the past four summers. She started out as counselor for three years, and last summer, she was in charge of demo farm. This summer, Briana is in charge of horseback riding, and she is so excited to teach campers about our horse Skip. When I asked Briana about why she wanted to work horseback riding, she said, “In my senior year of college, I worked at a therapeutic horse ranch for a semester. I fell in love with horses and working with them. I would not miss the opportunity to work at Camp and with Skip for anything.”
A little more about Briana outside of Camp is that she was actually born in Michigan, and in 2017 she graduated from the University of Alabama at Birmingham with a degree in Healthcare Management. Briana’s favorite type of horse is a palomino, which is the same breed as Skip. Briana has done so many things here at Camp, but she prefers working on program staff because she gets to interact with with all of the campers and sees how the animals impact their time at Camp. She added, “Watching a camper overcome their fear of animals was one of my favorite memories from Camp.” Briana has done a lot for Camp, and with her willingness to work hard, Camp ASCCA will be a great place to be.
