Meet Camp ASCCA Adventure Staffer Beau Castor

Each day this week, I will be focusing on one individual from our program staff that is a part of our adventure staff here at Camp ASCCA. Today, I will tell you a little about Beau Castor.

Beau is from Tampa, Florida, and he is no stranger to Camp ASCCA. Beau has worked at Camp ASCCA for the past three summers, and during that time, he was a counselor for one year and has been on program staff ever since. When Beau joined our program staff and became a part of our adventure staff, he knew that was the right fit for him. When I asked Beau why he chose adventure staff for all these years, he said, “Growing up, I always enjoyed climbing the rope in gym class, so when I got the chance to work for adventure staff, I took it. Working with adventure staff I can help campers have an experience unlike any other at Camp. It is not everyday a camper gets the chance to go down a zipline.”

Along with working during the summer, Beau has worked during fall seasonal of 2017 and spring seasonal of 2018, so it is fair to say that Beau loves camp life. The adventure program here at Camp has a lot of cool things to do, but one in particular sticks out to Beau. When asked, Beau said his favorite is the “high ropes course, because it combines a lot of different challenges into one course, and not just a zipline. It is definitely the hardest thing to do in the adventure program.”

Some fun facts about Beau is that he graduated from Hillsborough Community College in 2017 with a degree in Criminal Justice. When he was in high school, he enjoyed playing rugby, and when I asked Beau what his fun fact was he said, “I wear reading glasses when I read.” Beau’s time here at Camp has been filled with a lot of great memories, but one memory is very special to him. His favorite memory is when he had the chance to double ride with a camper down the zipline, and he says, “It is something I can not describe but that memory will always be special to me.” Over the past three years Beau has done a lot for Camp ASCCA, and as for this summer, he is off to another great start.
