Each day this week, I will be focusing on one individual from our program staff that is a part of our aquatics staff here at Camp ASCCA. Today, I will tell you a little about Emily Stocks.
Emily is a new face here at Camp ASCCA, but she is excited to see what is in store for this summer. Emily is from Hoover, Alabama, and this summer, she has joined our program staff team. She will be working as a lifeguard on the aquatics staff. I had the chance to sit down with Emily this morning to talk to her about Camp, and the things she is looking forward to. This being Emily’s first summer at Camp, I asked her how she got involved in Camp ASCCA. She mentioned that her grandfather was involved in Camp ASCCA as a board member and “when he would tell me his experience about Camp, I knew it was something I always wanted to do.”
When I asked Emily why she wanted to be a part of the aquatics team, she said, “because I love being around the water and I have been a lifeguard in the past. I knew this was the perfect job for me.” Emily loves being in the water, but if she had to choose one thing to do at Camp, she would choose tubing. She added, “It is fun to ride along with the campers and to see the pure joy on their faces when riding the tube.”
Outside of Camp, Emily is a student at Auburn University majoring in Rehabilitation and Disability Studies. After graduation, she hopes to go into occupational therapy or special education. Emily is an all around great person who always has a smile on her face, especially when she sees a giraffe, which is her favorite animal. Emily is so excited for Camp ASCCA to start, and we thank her for all of the hard work she has been doing to prepare for Camp.
