We are so excited to have sweet nurse Mary Kay here with us at ASCCA this summer. This is Mary Kay’s first summer at Camp and she graduated from Auburn University and is a recently retired Women’s Health Labor and Delivery nurse. Nurse MK says she has loved her retirement thus far because she gets to focus on being a mom and grandmother. In fact, her granddaughter Maddie Burdette is a counselor this summer and despite nurse MK’s hesitations, convinced her to join us here at Camp. MK said nothing touched her heart quite like seeing her granddaughter and other young people care for others and build relationships the way they do here at Camp.
Nurse Mary Kay is always seen with a bright smile and welcoming attitude. She cares for campers so well and makes everyone feel loved and safe. Camp ASCCA is a better place because of kind and genuine people like nurse MK.
Mary Kay said she cried leaving camp last weekend because “there is nothing quite like this place; it is hard to understand until you experience it”. She went on to say that “In a world that seems to have a lot of wrong, this place is what is right in the world.”
