Meet the Kitchen Staff

It is my pleasure to introduce to you, that in my book are some of the most important people here at camp, our Kitchen Staff. We all love to eat, Right?

Enis Higgs is our Food Service Director and he has an amazing staff at his side: Ann Cryton, Jeffie Heard, Jamal Crayton, and Andy Papcun. Ann has been with camp ASCCA for over 20 years and she continues to serve with a smile. The smiles of our staff, the love that they have for Camp ASCCA and each of our campers are just a few of the many qualities that sets our staff here at camp apart from the rest.

Our kitchen staff prepares 3 meals a day for an average of 200 or more people and with each meal they make sure everyone is taken care of. If a camper or staff member has food allergies, is a vegetarian or just likes to eat certain meals the kitchen staff is on top of it. They make sure that they still get a quality meal by supplementing certain foods to replace what nutritients they aren’t getting or fixing certain meals that their parents sent with them to be prepared.

The Kitchen staff does a great job at making meals special and memorable. Every Tuesday is “Taco Tuesday” and campers don’t forget about Taco Tuesday so there is no skipping tacos on Tuesday or trying to eat tacos on Monday. We eat tacos on Tuesday and that is the rule and this year on Wednesdays we are making it pizza night. Our kitchen staff will be making fresh pizzas for dinner on Wednesday nights that each table got to personalize to their own liking at lunch that day. How cool is that? We are definitely looking forward to pizza before our Independence Day celebration and fireworks!

We all want the Kitchen staff to know how much we appreciate the long hours and work they do for us here at camp so we wrote them a thank you note.

Dear Kitchen Staff,

Thank you for always taking care of us, even though we are picky and complain sometimes we really do appreciate the many meals you cook for us during the week. Thank you for not complaining when we occasionally don’t want to eat what is on our plate, but instead make us something else. We loved getting to place our order at lunch today for what kind of pizza we want tonight for dinner. We cannot wait for pizza night!

You are AWESOME and we give you 2 thumbs up!

Sincerely,

Camp ASCCA Campers and Staff

P.S. We love when we have ice cream for dessert 🙂
