Hey ASCCA family!
My name is Sara Shea and this is my second summer here at camp. I graduated in May with a Public Relations degree from Mississippi State University (HAIL STATE) and I am so happy that I get to spend the summer here at Camp ASCCA.
Public Relations has not always been my dream career path. I received my first degree as a Physical Therapist Assistant. I loved being able to help people meet physical goals and overcome obstacles that life had thrown their way, but while in school and working in Physical Therapy my eyes were opened to an even bigger dream. That is when I decided to pursue a degree in Public Relations. It is my life goal and dream job to be able to inspire the world the way that these special people have inspired me. I want to open societies eyes so that they no longer see a “disability” and instead see the endless abilities they have.
It wasn’t easy changing career paths and at times I doubt my ability to achieve my dream, but when I stop believing in myself, when I feel that my dream is too big or when I’m scared to step out of my comfort zone… I remember the passionate, loving and courageous people who inspired me to begin this journey in the first place. They have taught me to face everyday with a sense of adventure and to embrace this beautiful journey –that is life- without turning back.
It is going to be a life-changing summer full of adventure, new friends and Big Dreams. So don’t miss out on the Camp ASCCA life this summer just because you are at home or at work. Let the words in our blogs, the smiling faces you see in pictures on Flickr and the stories your campers come home telling, to inspire you to live life the way it is suppose to be lived… with a sense of adventure and a LOT of love.
