Hi there, Camp ASCCA!
My name is McCartney and I am so excited to be working with y’all this summer! I’m a rising sophomore at UAB majoring in medical sociology and human rights, and like many of our campers, I use a wheelchair to get around. I’m actually planning to use my education to help other people with disabilities like myself!
Some of you may recognize my name, and that’s because I’ve also been a camper at ASCCA since I was six years old. Back then, Camp seemed like a magical place; I looked forward to riding the zipline and seeing my friends all year. However, one week never felt like enough. That’s why it has been my dream since I was a little girl to work at Camp ASCCA and help to make the dreams of kids and adults with disabilities come true every week!
Orientation was a blast, and now I’m ready to get to work as a PR Intern. This job is definitely one of the more underrated here at Camp — it’s a holiday when we get a love note — but ASCCA wouldn’t be the same without someone to capture all the memories. I’m honored to have the chance to make my childhood dream come true this summer!
